DAVID DAY - ARTIST INFORMATION
David
Day has been a professional
sculptor for 33 years.
His mediums include stone, metal and wood. He has
completed four public
works of art for the city of
Philadelphia. His monumental sculptures were featured
in the Philadelphia Flower Show five different years. He
has participated
in international sculpture symposiums
in Chuj, Romania, Dudince, Slovakia and Kiev, Ukraine
in 1966,2000 and 2001. David Day was a sculpture
instructor at Yellow Springs Art Center in Chester
Springs, PA. and
Wayne Art Center in Wayne, PA..
He is the co-founder of the Philadelphia
Arts Group.
He attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts
and Philadelphia
University both located in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. His work is currently
showing in the
Philadelphia Art Museum.
DAVID DAY - ARTIST STATEMENT
"My focus is the "Divine
Process". I seek the connection, I listen for the conversation that hopefully is
inspired by my work. The objective is to share worldviews. My worldview is that
of a Christian. Therefore, the spiritual part of my life is directly connected
to my art form.
My philosophy of art clearly reveals this fact. For me,
sculpture has
developed into a three-dimensional response to the compelling
voice of God. I seek to give glory to Him by reflecting what I
know of His
image in my life, through the gifts God has
given me".
